“Act with compassion. Lead with courage.”
Founded in 1996, Sea Crest is an integral part of the scenic and welcoming coastside community of Half Moon Bay. We believe in fostering a joyful educational experience for both students and teachers, where academic excellence and character building are greatly valued.
The sense of community at Sea Crest starts early. Older and younger students are paired as “Learning Buddies,” and classes visit one another regularly to build relationships across grade levels. Small class sizes create a comfortable space where students can form close relationships with their teachers and classmates.
Sea Crest welcomes family participation, and there are countless volunteer opportunities for parents and guardians. Our school community also works hard to partner each year to local nonprofits such as Boys and Girls Club, Coastside Hope, Adopt-A-Beach, and Coastside Land Trust. Our dedication to service-learning fosters a sense of empathy, compassion, and empowerment in our students.
Social-Emotional Learning (SEL)
We believe that social-emotional learning is just as important as academic progress. Teachers spend time each day connecting with students and demonstrating what it means to be a conscientious citizen, student, and friend. The school’s Guiding Principles, such as “leave it better than we found it” and “we are each other’s keepers,” provide a foundation for how we live, work, and play together within our community. Teachers introduce these values through a Responsive Classroom model of instruction that includes morning meeting, positive reinforcement, research-based Character Lab, and logical consequences that transform mistakes into opportunities to learn and grow.
