What is the Annual Fund and why is it important?
The Sea Crest Annual Fund bridges the gap between our tuition and the actual cost of a Sea Crest education. Every dollar raised will directly benefit the school. The total we need to raise toward the gap is $2,400 per student. These funds are critical to the daily operation of the school and provide vital support for our operations including faculty and staff salaries, tuition assistance, technology upgrades, facilities improvements, curriculum enhancements and day-to-day operations.
Why doesn’t tuition cover the school’s expenses?
Tuition is purposely set to be less than the school’s operating budget in order to allow us to keep tuition low, attract a more diverse student body, and enable our families to make up the difference with a tax-deductible contribution.
My family makes sacrifices to pay our tuition. How can we be expected to contribute more?
We understand that not every family can contribute the $2400 difference that it takes to ‘bridge the gap’. We expect each family to contribute at a level that is comfortable for them. The important thing is that every family gives what they can to show support for the school. As an independent day school, Sea Crest depends upon current families to provide the lion’s share of gift revenue to the school, providing for the students of today and maintaining the legacy of financial health and excellence built upon the generosity of past families.
Why not rely on external sources to support the school?
Sea Crest does seek corporate and foundation sponsorship for specific projects, but most foundations and corporations do not fund general operating expenses (except through matching or donor advised gifts) for independent schools. Nonetheless, foundations and corporations look for strong internal support and institutional strength before committing their limited charitable resources. Having 100% participation in our annual fund helps provide the proof of internal support and stability that external funders require.
Can I make my contribution online?
YES! Sea Crest accepts ONLINE GIFTS. The process is quick, easy and secure. Please click here to make a gift and take advantage of this option. Online gifts can be paid in monthly installments as well.
What other ways can I give?
- CASH or CHECK: Gifts may be delivered to Advancement Office, Sea Crest School, 901 Arnold Way, Half Moon Bay, CA 94019.
- GIFTS OF SECURITIES: Giving a gift of appreciated stocks, bonds, or mutual funds can be to your financial advantage. In most cases, you may claim a charitable-income tax deduction for the full fair-market value of the shares and avoid capital gains tax. Please consult your financial advisor to clarify the advantages.
- MATCHING GIFTS: Many employers offer programs that will match or multiply an employee’s gift to Sea Crest. This is an easy way to dramatically increase the impact of your contribution. Check with your company’s Matching Gift Coordinator (usually in the Human Resources or Community Relations Department) for more information.
